“Get After It” Jocko Willink Motivational Speech

July 19, 2020

We all need a little extra motivation from time to time. Sometimes we just need to get after it If that’s you right now, say no more. We got you. And who better to deliver your kick in the pants than a retired US Navy Seal like Jock Willink? The answer is no one — no one is better.

Get After It

“You feel like your life is gonna last a long time. And if I was to talk to my 26-year-old self, I would tell that kid that you don’t have time. You really you don’t know when it’s gonna end. So get out there and do the things you want to do.

Get out there and get after them. Now. Don’t wait another second. Take advantage of it. Get out there and live and strive to be better because the life you’ve got — which I just said was a gift — it is a gift, so live it.

You’re Too “_______” Isn’t an Excuse

Too tired. Too hungry. Too sore. Too hot. Too cold. Too whatever. Your feelings don’t matter, that’s the deal.

You may feel like doing something. Maybe you don’t feel like doing something. Doesn’t matter, get out there and do what you’re supposed to do whether you feel like it or not well.

Once you reprogram your brain and tell yourself that tomorrow is not a viable option. Tomorrow doesn’t work. You do it today. Get it done today. That’s what you do, you get better. You get the work done. That’s what you have to do to achieve anything.

You have to take charge of the situation and take charge of your life. Don’t let some voice in your head that’s lazy and weak and pathetic start to run things.

You are going to have to do things that you don’t want to do. One of the best things I’ve learned is that anyone has what it takes to travel the hard road. To walk the path that leads to success. That includes you.

You’re In Charge

You’re in charge. Because the idea isn’t gonna execute itself. And the book isn’t gonna write itself. And the weights out there in the gym, they’re not gonna move themselves. You have to do it; and you have to do it now.

That means you’ve got to stop thinking about it and stop dreaming about it and stop researching every aspect of it and reading all about it and debating the pros and cons of it and just start doing it.

Go get aggressive.

Whether it’s on the battlefield or on the beat, don’t hesitate. Step forward.”
